Proposals have been put forward for a new supertall skyscraper scheme for the Chinese city of Wuhan showing that China's skyscraper boom is continuing, even if the rest of the world is going to hell in a handcart.

Named the Gezhouba International Plaza, it would consist of a 69 storey supertall tower along with a 34 storey tower connected via a shared low-rise structure if it gets given the go ahead.

The design comes from American architectural firm Kling Stibbons and would provide over a quarter of a million square metres of internal space if built.
Using the now traditional glazing and steel construction method, the tallest tower sports a gently curving organic shape that bulges in and out giving it a slimline look.

Housing premium office space, its glazed facades extend extensively up over its peak creating a walled in sky garden whilst a grided pattern is subtly visible on the facades adding a sense of regularity to the shape.

The main tower will house premium office space whilst the second tower is a wide curved, but slim shaped tower that shares the same grid pattern on its facades, with balconies running up its sides acting as a contrast with the smooth skinned taller neighbour.

This tower will house luxury condominiums along with a top-notch hotel and more than likely a gym, pool and other gubbins expected in towers these days.

The two towers are connected by a six storey low rise which will link to the towers via a low level concourse and sky bridges and will hold the all important retail space.

The roof of this lower level space will feature landscaped gardens spliced by glass which when viewed will look like a river running through the gardens, these will provide a tranquil respite for shoppers and workers alike, it also features a multi-level atrium.

The towers will also feature green technology such as grey water collection as well as wind power generation making the towers impact on the earth a little more friendlier
